Business Vehicle Leasing: FAQs

Business car leasing allows companies to lease a vehicle for a set period of time. Your leasing company will draw up a contract and source a vehicle that suits your specifications. Once your new vehicle is delivered, your business will pay a fixed monthly payment that covers an agreed-upon mileage. At the end of your contract term, you will return the vehicle; then, you have the option to walk away or begin another lease with a new vehicle.

Leasing your vehicle through your business offers numerous tax incentives. Should you use your vehicle solely for business purposes, you will be able to reclaim 100% of the VAT paid; this is reduced to 50% if the vehicle is used for a mix of both commercial and personal use.

The UK Government also provides additional tax benefits if you choose to lease an electric vehicle. The entire cost of your vehicle can be deducted from your pre-tax profits and you are also able to take advantage of ultra-low tax bands and a reduction or exemption in road tax.
